COMBIGAN Eye Drops is a medication that contains two active ingredients, brimonidine tartrate and timolol maleate. It is used to lower high intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Brimonidine tartrate works by decreasing the amount of fluid that is produced in the eye, while timolol maleate reduces the amount of fluid that flows out of the eye. Together, these two medications work to lower IOP and prevent damage to the optic nerve.
COMBIGAN Eye Drops are administered directly into the affected eye(s) as prescribed by a healthcare provider. The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.
Like all medications, COMBIGAN Eye Drops may cause side effects, including eye irritation, itching, redness, and dryness. It may also cause more serious side effects, such as changes in heart rate, breathing difficulties, and allergic reactions. Therefore, it is important to discuss the risks and benefits of using this medication with a healthcare provider before starting treatment. It is also important to follow the instructions for use carefully and to notify a healthcare provider if any side effects occur or if symptoms worsen.
